SOCRATES the MAN

Socrates was the Greek philospher on the forefront of Western Philosophy and creator of the Socratic Method, which using questions to evoke thought, discussion, individual answers and insight into complex issues. Socrates believed the best way for people to live was to focus on self-development rather than the pursuit of material wealth. He encouraged others to concentrate on friendships and a sense of true community as the best way for people to grow together. Socrates also strongly believed that people possess philosophical and intellectual virtues that should be used in the search of Good.

OUR VISION

Socrates Center is the premiere enrichment program in the Dallas area, offering a variety of camps, workshops, competitions and credit and non-credit courses to homeschool, public school, preschool and adult audiences. Our singular mission is to empower bright and inquisitive kids with a passion for learning, desire to think and create, the willingness and analytical reasoning to challenge ideas, and the skills to succeed in life and make a difference in the world. We offer creative, fun and thought-provoking, 21st Century learning-based classes that emphasize science, technology, engineering, math, problem-solving, creativity and communication skills.

SOCRATES CENTER for LEARNING & ROBOTICS SQUAD

Socrates Center for Learning launched in the summer of 2009 with a small group of camp kids. We have quickly grown to include after school programs, workshops and events, competitive robotics team, consulting, birthday parties, satellite programs, and more. In particular, the growth of our robotics program resulted in development of a successful competitive robotics team and the Robotics Squad, a comprehensive brick-building, robotics and engineering training and consulting program that is making it's way throughout the country. Beginning Spring 2012, Robotics Squad will be launching it's own, locally held robotics tournaments for kids of all ages!

OUR LOCATION

We are currently located with 5 other family friendly businesses within the NTA Taekwondo building, a beautiful,15,000 square foot facility located in Coppell, TX., just off exits for highway 2499, 635 and 121, and only minutes from Grapevine Mills Mall and the new LEGOtm Discovery Center. We also have onsite, satellite programs operating at Explorations Preparatory School in Flower Mound, TX; Chesapeake Energy Child Development Center, Oklahoma City; and Children's Choice Preschool at Medical City, Dallas.
